AirFit N30i and P30i: Which Cushions Fit Your Frame?

Quick answer: The ResMed AirFit N30i (nasal cradle) and AirFit P30i (nasal pillows) use the same frame and headgear. Any N30i cushion or P30i pillow clicks into either mask’s frame, so you can switch between a nasal cushion and nasal pillows without buying a new mask. The frame comes in two sizes, Small and Standard. N30i cushions come in Small, Medium, Small Wide and Wide, and P30i pillows in Small, Medium and Large.

What fits the N30i and P30i frame?

Part Fits the 30i frame? Sizes
AirFit N30i nasal cradle cushion ✅ Small, Medium, Small Wide, Wide
AirFit P30i nasal pillows cushion ✅ Small, Medium, Large
AirFit 30i frame Shared by both masks Small, Standard
AirFit 30i headgear Shared by both masks Matched to frame
AirFit P10 pillows ❌ Different mask and frame. See P10 pillow sizing →
AirFit N30 (non-“i”) cushion ❌ Different mask with a front tube connection

Check the name on your frame. The “i” matters. The N30i and P30i have the hose connecting at the top of the head, while the older-style N30 and P10 connect at the front.

One frame, two styles: why that matters

Because both masks share the frame, you can:

  • Switch styles when your needs change. For example, use nasal pillows most nights, and the cradle cushion when your nostrils feel sore.
  • Try the other style for the price of a cushion, not a whole new mask.
  • Keep one frame and headgear, and simply reorder whichever cushion you’re using.

If you already own a P30i, buying an N30i cushion turns it into a nasal cradle mask, and the reverse works too.

N30i or P30i: which cushion style should you use?

N30i nasal cradle cushion

  • Sits under the nose and seals around the nostrils, without going inside them
  • Doesn’t touch the bridge of the nose, so no red marks there
  • Often more comfortable than pillows at higher pressure settings, or if pillows irritate your nostrils

P30i nasal pillows cushion

  • Two soft pillows that seal at the opening of each nostril
  • The smallest contact area of any mask style
  • Popular with people who feel closed-in by larger masks or have facial hair

Both keep the hose on top of the head, which is why they’re popular with side and stomach sleepers. Compare all three mask types →

How to choose your frame size

The frame size is separate from the cushion size.

  • Small frame or Standard frame. As a general guide, ResMed suggests men start with Standard and women with Small.
  • Too small: it feels tight and sits close to your forehead.
  • Too large: it feels loose and sits too far back on your head.
  • Between sizes? Choose the larger one.

How to choose your cushion size

N30i nasal cradle cushions

  • Small and Medium suit most nose shapes
  • Small Wide suits small, flatter noses
  • Wide suits larger, flatter noses

ResMed typically pairs Small and Small Wide cushions with the Small frame, and Medium and Wide cushions with the Standard frame. The N30i fit pack includes Small, Medium and Small Wide cushions; the Wide cushion is sold separately.

P30i nasal pillows

  • Small, Medium or Large. The right size sits comfortably at the nostril opening without pinching or leaking.
  • Pillow feels tight or blocks airflow? Size down. Leaks or slips out? Size up.

Using a travel CPAP?

ResMed notes that the AirFit N30i isn’t compatible with the AirMini travel machine. If you travel with an AirMini, check the mask’s compatibility before you buy. See travel CPAP options →

Care and replacement

  • Clean the cushion after each use with warm water and a mild soap, rinse well and air-dry
  • Wash the frame and headgear regularly as described in your user guide
  • Replace cushions and pillows often. Nasal cushions and pillows are typically replaced about every two weeks, or sooner if they leak, feel soft or sticky, or lose their seal. See the full replacement schedule →

Replacement cushions, pillows and headgear don’t require a prescription. A complete mask (frame, cushion and headgear together) does.
